On Thursday night, Chad and I got a chilling phone call that Kim and her kids had been in a horrible accident at the HEB near their home. We had no further information. We got on the phone immediately and called everyone we could think of - the police, the fire station, etc. Finally, we uncovered that they had all been life flighted to Austin. I called the medical center in Austin and found out where life flight went - only one place - Brackenridge Hospital in North Austin. I called Brackenridge and they were able to tell me that no adults were on their way to Brackenridge, but that two children were on their way to Dell Children's Hospital. My blood turned cold. Chad just happened to have gotten the same information when he was calling around, so he got Dell's on the phone before I did. He asked about the kids and they actually handed the phone to Kim. It was then that Kim told us that she and Jaden were life flighted, but Kinlee was on her way in the ambulance. Jaden had received 3 staples in his head and his cat scan had come back normal. Kim just kept telling Chad that she was fine. It was not until later that we were told that they were not in a car accident, as we had suspected. They had been run over in the HEB parking lot by an 80 year old man in a truck. Kim was the only one actually run over by the tires. Jeremy told us later that Kim had tire marks all over her legs. It is truly a miracle that none of her bones were crushed. Kinlee finally arrived and is just fine. Both kids have received a thorough check at the pediatrician and they are fine. Thank GOD. Kim was told that her bones were severly bruised. In about a month, she will turn black and blue from the trauma to her bones. Until then, she will be very sore.
We are very lucky that they are all okay and that they all were able to walk away from this terrible accident. We can only thank God for watching over them. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers - we certainly needed them.
